Searching for Italy with Stanley Tucci

I had so much fun wandering through Genoa with Stanley Tucci, as I guided him on his “Searching for Italy” tour of all things Ligurian! We ate focaccia, talked pesto, and laughed about life as an American in Italy on Episode 8 of Season 2 of CNN’s original series. In this clip, I convince Stanley to try the most authentic Ligurian breakfast, despite his skepticism!

  • “This mixture of styles is beautifully presented in “Liguria,” an informative new cookbook by Laurel Evans, a Texan who married a Ligurian and sought the culinary secrets of his extended family and friends.”

  • “The Italian region of Liguria is famous for its riviera (hello, Cinque Terre!), for its focaccia, and as the birthplace of pesto. And you might expect all that to be reflected in the pages of Laurel Evan's new cookbook, Liguria —and you will—but you will also find more of the unexpected”

  • “In this month’s selection for the Saveur Cookbook Club, Liguria: Recipes from the Italian Riviera, Evans introduces the region’s cuisine to an American audience, with stunning photography...”

  • "Liguria: The Cookbook: Recipes from the Italian Riviera” is a love letter to a lesser-known part of Italy, highlighting regional dishes like corzetti, a medallion-shaped stamped pasta."

  • "This cookbook is packed with delicious recipes which will definitely have the approval of your Italian nonnas."

  • “Full of wisdom handed down through generations by the region’s nonne (including Evans’s mother-in-law) and gorgeous photographs by Scoti, a native Ligurian, of the region’s sweeping vistas and famous hill-perched towns, this is a dive into a historic cuisine deeply rooted in its geography.“

  • "Focaccia and pesto were both born in this beautiful region and award-winning author, food writer, and expat Laurel Evans is our brilliant guide to the rich flavors of Liguria through brilliant recipes and personal anecdotes."

  • "When it comes to cookbooks of the year, one of the editor's top picks is Liguria, The Cookbook by food writer Laurel Evans."
